Fall Sports were busy this year with tournaments, invites, games, and wins! If you did not get a chance to get out to see some of these sports, or just want to relive the bests of the season, then catch up with the coaches by reading their highlights of the season!

Girls golf- Coach Adkins- The girl’s golf team finished 3rd at the CS8 tournament, 3rd at the Regional tournament, and 9th at Sectionals. Coach Adkins commented on how Junior Katie Chen shot the best round of the season for the team at the Regional where her 77 was placed 3rd overall.

Boys Golf- Coach Stapleton

The boy’s golf team was City, Regional, and Sangamon County Champs this year. Another highlight of their season was placing third at the Quincy Invite. Jake Baldin and Peyton Woods were both selected for the All-Conference Team. The team advanced to Sectionals and Jake Baldin advanced to State where he placed in the top 30!

Boys and Girls Cross Country- Coach Devlin

Something special about this season is that it is the first “normal” season back since Covid 19. Coach Devlin was very excited about how the meets this season were big again. This way his runners could have more competition which allows them to run and perform better. Along with big meets, invitationals were back which allowed the runners to go against competition they would not normally compete against. Devlin was also excited about how there was a state meet this year because it meant that there was a bigger and better goal for the end of the season! The boys team and Maddie Kim qualified to run in the State meet this year.

Girls Tennis- Coach Hofmann

The team had a pretty good season! Coach Hofmann would say the most exciting thing is sophomore, and #1 player, Nishi Korrapati went 12-4 in singles matches this year and placed 2nd in the CS8 conference tournament for singles. There was no State Tournament last year due to Covid, so it is very exciting that State is back, and not only that, but Korrapati qualified for State this season.

Volleyball- Coach Sturm

The Lady Senators Volleyball team has had a great year with a 6-3 conference and an 18-8 overall record so far. Coach Sturm says that this season has been filled with some great wins including big conference wins over Chatham and Jacksonville. The team won Regionals this season with a win against Jacksonville. He adds a special thanks to the 8 seniors for their leadership this year.

Girls Swimming and Diving- Coach Seiple

The girl swimmers and divers have had an amazing season this year. The girls won the city meet and are now our city champions. Coach Seiple said the team also had a great meet at their capital city invite that they hosted. The two seniors, Alexandra Bradley and Americus Berg, had done a great job leading the team this year, and Junior Falyn Long performed excellently this season along with everyone who achieved new personal bests.

Football- Coach Gully

Coach Gully said a highlight for the football season was defeating Chatham in Week 1. We hadn’t beaten Chatham since 2010 and the game wound up being super close. Chatham actually took the lead in the 3rd quarter, but our team never flinched and made plays in the 4th quarter to go ahead and hang on for the win. Gully said the best thing about the victory was that it was a total team effort, multiple people scored, multiple people made big plays, and the team earned the win together.

Boys Soccer- Coach Phillips

The boys had an exceptionally great season this year with a 12-2-5 record and 7-0 in Conference. With this Conference record they ended the season as Conference champs! A game Coach Phillips would like to highlight is the 2-1 overtime win against Chatham. Some stand out players were Ian Lamsargis who made All-State and Drew Herman who made All-Sectional.
