I know we can all agree that if someone came up and asked you what your favorite disney movie was you would be able to answer within 15 seconds. Well, that is exactly what I did to a few of your fellow classmates. Overall it is pretty easy to pinpoint our favorite Disney movies growing up as a child.
I know for senior Jessica Borland she has always had her heart set on the glamorous “The Little Mermaid.” The reasons behind why this is her favorite movie are way different then the other classmates that were interviewed. I say this because the reason why Borland likes “The Little Mermaid” so much is because she wanted to be Ariel. She thought she always looked like the princess because of their similar traits, including their gorgeous red hair. She did in fact dress up as her for halloween as you can see in the picture. But that is not the only reason Borland liked the movie, one of her favorite parts of it was looking at Ariel’s dresses because she believes that Ariel has the prettiest ones. She also enjoyed this movie in particular because of not only Ariel but also because of Eric. She adored him and also adored the scene when Ariel would sing “Part of Your World.” Along with her favorite song, her favorite quote from the movie would have to be, “this human world is a mess.”
On the other hand, our junior Crystal Chen picked her favorite movie off of completely different reasons than Borland. Chen’s favorite Disney movie is Mulan. She loves the movie because of its heartwarming story and how it helps create cultural identity. She has always liked Mulan since she was little and that is mainly because of its lessons it teaches throughout it. Her favorite characters are the hilarious trio of Ling, Chein-Po, and Yao. They were her favorite because they are the comic relief of the movie and I mean who does not love the comic relief characters? Aside from favorite characters, her favorite song in Mulan is “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” which is the only acceptable answer of course.
Next up is sophomore Jaden Kuntz. His favorite Disney movie is Finding Nemo which is such a staple piece for many of us. Kuntz adores this movie mainly because it was the first Disney movie he had ever seen. Which is crazy! He has liked this movie ever since he was six years old and no other movie has been able to top it. One big reason he loves the movie so much is because of the main turtle character named Crush. He loves this character because of his laidback attitude and Kuntz inspires to have some of that same chillness. Which is ironic because both Chen’s and Kuntz’s favorite characters happen to be the comic relief in the movies.
But for freshman Jacob Jenkins, his favorite character happens to be the villain of his favorite movie. Jenkins favorite movie is Toy Story 3 and his favorite character is the evil Lotso. Jenkins says Lotso reminds him of a strawberry shortcake, which is fitting because supposedly the teddy bear smells like strawberries. He has always loved this movie ever since it came out. When he was asked to describe the movie, there were only two words that came to his head, “cinematic masterpiece.”
Overall those two words could describe any of the movies that were picked. It is hard to find a Disney movie that is considered bad. So now the question is, what is your favorite Disney movie? You have 15 seconds GO!
