Fall- Audrey Pacheco

The crisp autumn air blows the smoky smell of a bomb fire towards you. The fallen leaves crunch at each step you take towards the bright orange pumpkins. You carve spooky faces into pumpkins with your friends, and drink hot apple cider. You look around at all the smiling faces, everyone is happy: it’s fall!

Fall is the best season hands down! The weather is just perfect for all occasions. The temperature is cool enough to wear all the cozy sweaters, sweatshirts, and jeans; and not so cold that you have to wear a bulky winter jacket, and freeze to death everytime you go outside. It is the perfect cool air to snuggle up to a bomb fire, and roast some weenies and make smores. You could also go to football games in this crisp air, and not get too hot in the student section, but not too cold that you would struggle to find an outfit for the themes.

Not only is fall perfect for its weather, but also its endless activities. You could have a fun day picking out squash, gords, pumpkins and more at the Apple Barn in Chatham. You could scoop out all the slimy pumpkin guts and carve whatever picture your heart desires into a pumpkin. As well as get scared with all of your friends at a haunted house, or even better a haunted hayride! But, you can’t forget losing your voice cheering on the Springfield High School football team. Most importantly though, dressing up in your creative costume and Trick-or-Treating. One thing is for sure, you do not ever have to go to Halloween without eating candy!

Fall is also a suburb in all of its entertainment. You can have a comforting night watching all of the Halloween movies. You could go on a trip with a family of witches with “Halloweentown”, watch three more witches try to become immortal in “Hocus Pocus” or go on an adventure to stop a no-good dog with “Spooky Buddies.” If you feel like having a great scare you could always watch a family live in a haunted house with “The Conjuring”, watch a masked stalker go after highschoolers in “Scream” or watch “Pet Cemetery” where you can see exactly why it is not a good idea to revive your loved ones. There are endless options for the cozy, or thrilling, nights that await you this fall season. But, you cannot forget the Halloween candy and popcorn balls you get to enjoy while watching all those movies.

Speaking of amazing movie snacks… Fall has the best food! You have amazing foods in both October and November. In October, you get the consistent staples of the cavity causing Halloween candy, as well as the warm sugary apple cider donuts, the sweet caramel apples, the warm apple crisp pie, all the juicy honeycrisp apples, the amazing apple cider, the stunning pumpkin bread and of course the popular pumpkin spice lattes. However, there is even more food when November comes along. Like the juicy turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, with the salty gravy, moist stuffing, sweet potatoes and marshmallows, buttery rolls, acidic cranberries and the sweet pecan and pumpkin pies. If that does not get your mouth watering, I do not know what would!

From the perfectly cool fall nights, to the Apple Barn and haunted houses, to the most thrilling “Scream” movie night, to the amazing warm pumpkin pie, fall is just the suburb season. There is just not one bad thing about it!
