Now that we’re back in school for the new year, let’s find out what other exciting things are taking place this year!
- Long Live the King! May 6 is the Coronation day for King Charles III. The last royal Coronation took place in 1953, crowning late Queen Elizabeth.
- Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse! The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its centennial this February. The company is celebrating its 100 year anniversary with an exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. It includes historical collections and artifacts from Disney’s archives.
- Swing Batta Batta Swing! For sports fans, the MLB (Major League Baseball) is introducing some of its most radical rules: adding a pitch clock and limiting defensive shifts. Many hope these changes will make the game quicker and more entertaining.
- “Who is this Angel?” The Broadway show “The Phantom of the Opera” will have its last show on April 16. The musical has been showing since 1988. When the curtain finally closes on its last showing, it will have played 13,981 performances.
- Supermoons! Four Supermoons are supposed to happen, including a blue moon. Be sure to take a look on the following dates: July 3, August 1, August 31 and September 29.
